UNV Internship Programme
ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
The UNV Internship Programme, sponsored by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs , is implemented by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) in cooperation with the UN/DESA Office in Rome. This initiative, implemented for the first time in October 2000 for 15 participants and enlarged to 27 participants in 2007, provides university graduates with the opportunity to offer their services in developing countries for a 12-month period.
The UNV Internship Programme has been established to give interns the opportunity to be involved in projects and activities at the field level and thus directly interact with local development actors and beneficiaries. With their direct participation in various local initiatives, the UNV Interns will both contribute to the host country's overall development and gain a better understanding of the realities of international development cooperation.
