Under this Programme, you will be offered a one-year fixed-term contract renewable for a second year (two years being the usual length of assignment) by the Organization which has selected you through the interview process. The entry grade will be at the level P2 step 1 of the professional category for the United Nations System and at the equivalent grade for other International Organizations.
How many JPOs and AEs are recruited every year and how many posts are available?
This depends on the number of posts sponsored by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which decides every year according to the requests received and its policy and strategic plans.
Who evaluates and interviews candidates?
The preliminary assessment of candidacies is carried out by the Human Resources for International Cooperation Office taking into account language skills, academic background, professional experience, etc. A United Nations Commission will then undertake the pre-selection – the evaluation of candidates for interview – which takes into account the candidates' profiles and the requests for posts received by the International Organizations and approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This evaluation is done with the purpose of matching best candidates' profiles with the job descriptions for the posts sponsored in a given year.
Where and when the final interview will take place?
Only short-listed candidates will be interviewed by the representatives of the various International Organizations at the HRIC Office in Rome , normally between May and June. Once this process is finalized, the Organizations inform HRIC of the final results for positive and negative communications to the candidates interviewed.
If I am recruited, will I be trained before starting the assignment?
Prior to official recruitment by the various International Organizations, the successful candidates will have to participate in a two-week induction course at the United Nations System Staff College in Turin. For more information on the training, you can visit the web site: www.unssc.org
