FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAMME
FOR TECHNICAL COOPERATION CAPACITY BUILDING
AND HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAMME
The “Fellowships Programme for Technical Cooperation Capacity Building and Human Resources Development” is sponsored by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
The “Fellowships Programme” aims to provide on-the-job training in developing countries to young professionals in the field of international co-operation.
The Programme has a duration of one year. The pre-selected candidates will be invited to attend an interview session in October. The selected candidates will take part in a two-week training at the United Nations System Staff College in Turin, in mid December. The training will be focused on international development cooperation activities and, in particular, on the design and management of programmes and projects in developing countries.
Following the training, the Fellows will be assigned to their respective duty stations in developing countries for 11 and half months. The selected candidates are expected to start their country experience in early January 2011. Fellows will receive a stipend in local currency according to the cost of living in the country of destination.
